Director’s Statement

This story is related to my childhood, which is about a little girl longing for her mother's care at first, but ends up with her decision to grow up alone. This is a short film that integrates vision into the theme and narrative. In order to echo the concept of "myopia" - nearsighted people have to get very close to see the things in front of them clearly, most of the lens positions are composed of close-up with a 4:3 aspect ratio, creating a cramped, stylish look and strong visual language.

It reflects the little protagonist's desire to be close to her mother and her desire to hold onto her mother tightly due to the fear of blurred vision. A person must go through the process of "separation" and "individuation" before being considered "psychological birth". Thus the ending action in “Myopia”, carries the meaning of agentic capacity and children autonomy.
